Can you imagine that? A car bomb in a University Campus in Europe? I’m so angry an distressed that is difficult to put some ideas together and make sense. There is a terrorist group named ETA who just put a car bomb in a parking lot next to the main building of my University ( the University of Navarre, in Pamplona Spain). Thanks God there are only 21 wounded, but it was a miracle, because there are a path very close by used by thousand of students to go from the main building to the main library and some of the offices of the main building ended in fire. Everyone could escape in time.

I don’t understand the meaning to attack a University. A place of learning, teaching, investigation, culture, freedom, nurture of ideas. A place populated by people so “dangerous” like students and teachers and scientists.

Nothing to do with the goals of that terrorist group witch is (as they say) the independence of the Basque Country, but in this case it seems it was the killing of whoever is easier to kill. Students or teachers o scholars or workers unaware of the risk.

Or maybe in their plans for the future doesn’t have place for culture, or people with ideas on their heads? Only people who accept whatever came by force? Maybe is that. Terrorists don’t bother about life, and I bet don’t like culture too much if cultured people can contradict them. Violence versus Culture? Maybe is that the reason of todays car bomb?.

Maybe not. All us are potential victims. Terrorists don’t look, don’t think like us, average people. Is a waste of time try to understand what hey are doing. They destroy everything in order to… who knows what. Because I no longer believe in any of their long explanations after each cold blood crime. All that only makes me sick. And this said thinking in all kind of terrorism. Not only this particular case so close to me.

As for today, I only hope my University will arose firmly from all this and stay, as always, teaching young people how to think by themselves and be independent and creative and makers of the culture of our century like has being doing until now.
And I know it will.
