Summer’s gosts

stormy summer’s day water-colour OB/12

It’s august in Spain. Everything is quiet. It’s hot, and it seems like everybody is on vacation. even everybody with power to decide in the middle of a crisis. It’s time to let things go, it seems. Almost no news, only sports, some crimes, fires, arson and accidents. Maybe people is exhausted by the crisis and the problems of the world far away and is looking for a rest at home, in the shadows or at the beach under the sun, by the Mediterranean sea or the Ocean if they are so lucky to live there or no so struck by the crisis to go there. It’s like everything has stopped until september. A very difficult september, very different from that of The Fantastiks song:

“Try to remember the kind of September
When life was slow and oh, so mellow.
Try to remember the kind of September
When grass was green and grain was yellow.
Try to remember the kind of September
When you were a tender and callow fellow.
Try to remember, and if you remember,
Then follow.”

No, this september will not be mellow, but hard, according by the economists and specialists in money issues for Spain and the Government and the social tissue in the Country. So may be  that Spaniards are now following their traditions to vacation in august and hopping to have an august to be able to sing:

deep in “September”  it’s nice to remember,
Although you know the snow will follow.
Deep in December, it’s nice to remember,
Without a hurt the heart is hollow.
Deep in December, it’s nice to remember,
The fire of “August” that made us mellow.
Deep in December, our hearts should remember
And follow.

It’s a pity that most of the people in Spain don’t know this marvellous song.
