Violence begets violence, but the violent answer depends of the individual human being affected by the real, fictional or virtual attack by direct means, in the media, in the movies or the video games. Under the same attack a man or a woman can react with violence driven by hate or retaliation or peacefully as a silent victim trying to survive, the situation of many people around the world.

My father was a young journalist during WWII. He was victim of real violence against him and his family. He was in jail with the italian fascists, in a concentration camp with the communists, had to suffer the killing of two of his brothers, fled his Country and had to be separated from his wife and child for 12 years. He never touched a weapon, never answered with violence, even with hate, because, he told me, all his life went through every day “fighting against hate”. And he taught me to do the same, never be a hater no matter what. With this kind of people no matter from where comes the violence, the answer is not violence but fight to survive in peace.

In all the wars there are many people doing so: fighting to survive, flying from violence, from that violence that begets violence. They are the silent victims.

All around the world are also violent people who doesn’t need a war to find a way to spread the hate, the pain or even the death. Inspired in the news, the movies, the video games, but actually in a sick way of thinking

that usually considers that some human beings are superior to others and the inferior ones are disposable. The dead and wounded in terrorists or random attacks and his families are the silent victims.
