The terrorists have created chaos, fear, incredible pain, and destruction on lives among ordinary people who were having fun as is common in the beginning of the occidental weekend. A concert, a dinner, a football match have become scenes of panic and death. The terrorists want to disrupt the normal way of life in Occident and spread fear among the people.

March marks the fourth anniversary of the uprising against Syrian president Bashar Al Assad which originated the ongoing war. According to the UN, since then, at least 220,000 people have died, 4 million people have fled to neighbouring countries and are refugees and there are 7.6 million internal displaced people. In addition, 12.2 million people continue to need life saving aid. And the fighting continues, every day more complicated with multiple sides and no end in sight.

The beheading of 21 Egyptian Coptic Christians by Islamic State (ISIL) in Libya has been a step further in the run of cruelty of the extremists against the world. Those 21 men were killed because they were Christians. No one should die because of their religion or their ideas in this world, but it happens too often nowadays.

US President Barack Obama announced a campaign of airstrikes in Iraq and Syria to “degrade and ultimately destroy the terrorist group known as ISIL”. He contemplates helping the opposition groups fighting in Syria against the ISIL fighters but not to the Syrian regime that also fights the extremists, because he thinks Al Assad has lost his legitimacy.
