UN: The Ebola outbreak has killed already 9,442 people and there are 23,371 cases in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea. There is a funding gap of 1 billion dollars for the fight against the spread of the disease.

The ICC and Palestine

The Court explains that this doesn’t mean to open now an investigation. It means that they will check the facts to see if there are grounds to open an investigation that would include the battle in Gaza last summer who ended with more than 2,200 Palestinian and 70 Israelis killed. Ukraine, Russian troops and the US

NATO has observed columns of Russian equipment, primarily Russian tanks, Russian artillery, Russian air defense systems, and Russian combat troops entering Ukraine over the last 48 hours. The US considers that with this move Russia “keeps fuelling war” in Ukraine. Moscow answered that all that is a “propaganda concoction”.

UK will not support migrant search and rescue operations in the Mediterranean

The United Kingdom Government announced earlier this week they will not support any future search and rescue operations to prevent migrants and refugees drowning in the Mediterranean, stating that such operations can encourage more people to attempt the dangerous sea crossing to enter Europe

There is a lot of information about the few infected with Ebola in the US and Europe, but not so much about the real core of the problem which is the huge outbreak in Africa and the lack of resources to fight against it and avoid the spread of the virus. with 10,000 new cases per week expected by december Africa needs money and resources as soon as possible to avoid the spread of the virus.

Humanitarian crisis in Iraq

A humanitarian crisis is under way in Iraq with thousands of civilians fleeing from their homes with nothing, because of the attacks against religious minorities by the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) who have taken control of great areas in the north. According to the UN over the last 48 hours 200,000 civilians have fled the advance of ISIL.

Too many killed

When I wrote the post “Back to the worst” I couldn’t imagine the situation in Gaza would be so bloody as it has been and it continues being. In just 25 days, 1,499 Palestinians were killed, most of them civilians, and there are 7,000 wounded. The Israeli army have attacked a UN shelter, adducing that nearby there were militants launching an attack against them. So the UN blue banner is not longer a safe haven for the 200,000 internal displaced people trapped in the strip.

Nowhere to flee

More than 530 Palestinians, mostly civilians, is the provisional death toll of the Israeli offensive on Gaza while Hamas rocket attacks have claimed the lives of 20 Israelis (18 soldiers and 2 civilians). There are already at least 84,000 displaced people in Gaza.
